Camelia Liparoti and Annett Fischer (Yamaha YXZ1000R-Yamaha Powered by X-Raid Team) finished 13th in the stage 38’05 minutes behind the stage winner of Briton Kris Meeke. Mattias Ekstrom and Emil Bergkvist (Yamaha YXZ1000R-Yamaha Powered by X-Raid Team), outside the general classification, crossed the finish line in 12th place at 33’13 minutes!

In the provisional, Camelia Liparoti and Annett Fischer are firmly established in 2nd place in the general classification at 1h30 from the Czechs Josef Machacek and Pavel Vyoral.

Mattias Ekström: « A really tough day with many rocks and stones, and a lot of dust. We had hardly any pleasure on this stage, as we could not get into our rhythm. Tomorrow is a new day and should be the most difficult leg of the rally, with massive dunes. »

Camelia Liparoti: « That was the easiest leg of the Dakar, but it did not bring me any luck. We picked up two punctures. The first was in a dry riverbed with a lot of stones, and I probably hit one too hard. Then, in the third part of the stage, a car overtook us without the Sentinel warning me. It covered me in dust, I was unable to brake fast enough and we hit another stone. We are well-placed in the overall standings. However, tomorrow we face the toughest stage of the Dakar and we must be extremely focussed. »

Annett Fischer: « This wasn’t our day. It started very well, but we lost some time at the end due to two punctures. The navigation was sometimes really difficult! At two very tricky points we overtook a lot of cars by finding the right tracks while they got lost. Unfortunately, we didn’t see a single dune today. Hopefully that will change tomorrow. The toughest stage of the whole race awaits us. »

As Ekström rejoined the rally within the ‘Dakar experience’ today, he is no longer listed in the overall standings for the T3.1 light prototypes.
