The 2019 Blancpain GT Sports Club championship reaches it penultimate round at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium for the blue-riband event, the SRO Speedweek.
Boasting spectacular forest views surrounding a classically high-speed layout, the legendary venue hosts the fourth round of the 2019 campaign having played a regular role in the series since 2016.
Jen Reno Moller will be aiming to consolidate his championship advantage ahead of the Barcelona finale for Reno Racing on board the grid’s sole Honda NSX GT3 Evo, having further extended his points lead with a third victory of the year in Misano.
His nearest rival, Kessel Racing’s Murod Sultanov, now sits 28 points adrift although the Paul Ricard race two winner will not be giving up just yet in his Ferrari 488 GT3, having scored another podium last time out. He will once again have Stephen Earle, who could secure his third consecutive Iron Cup championship this weekend, as his team-mate, as well as Turkish racer R.Murat Cuhadaroglu. The Ferrari Challenge regular will be making his series debut.
Also utilising a trio of Ferrari 488 GT3s is AF Corse, with Mario Cordoni third in the championship after claiming his third podium of the season in Misano. His Iron Cup team-mates Louis Philippe Soenen and Howard Blank both secured class podiums last time out. Russian Pavel Strukov is also using a Ferrari for StileF Squadra Corse.
German Coach McKansy took the lead of the Titanium Cup from ERC Sport’s Lee Mowle at Misano after securing two class podiums. The HP Racing International driver will be wanting to secure that top spot, having been runner-up in 2018, in his Lamborghini Huracan GT3 while Mowle will be on attack mode having crashed his Mercedes AMG GT3 fighting for the overall podium last time out, causing him to miss race two.
Also in a Mercedes is GetSpeed Performance’s Denis Remenyako. The Russian scored two points finishes during his debut weekend at Paul Ricard and returns from the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup at the previous round.
HB Racing’s Dilantha Malagamuwa, using the older-sepc Lamborghini Huracan GT3, will look to build on his impessive last outing, where technical issues denied the Sri Lankan his best result in the series, with an overall podium in sight.
