– GT World Challenge powered by AWS headlines with 57-car grid and 10 manufacturers
– Three more high-level GT series add further action across Saturday and Sunday
– Extensive activations include open paddock, music, and numerous driver-fan interactions
GT World rolls into Monza next weekend (29-31 May) for one of the biggest events of the season. A 57-car field representing 10 manufacturers will tackle the headline GT World Challenge powered by AWS race, while a further 80 cars from three high-level GT series will ensure non-stop action on the circuit. Fans can also look forward to a packed itinerary that includes an open paddock, music, and much more entertainment.
Monza simply must be seen in person. Located within the largest walled park in Europe, it is a setting befitting of this legendary race track – and the perfect place to get the full GT World experience.
One of the world’s oldest purpose-built circuits, Monza has been active for more than a century, starting out as a high-speed oval in 1922 before developing into the modern facility we know today. Parts of the old track still exist and there’s a strong sense of nostalgia in the air wherever you go, be it Rettifilo, Curva Grande or Parabolica.
The region also has plenty to see and do. Monza is located close to Milan, a city known for its strong sense of culture, fashion, and cusine. So, when you’re not at the track, you can visit historic sights, shop at boutiques, and dine at superb restaurants. With the early summer sunshine and a fantastic setting, you don’t need to love motor racing to find something special around Monza.
GT World Challenge powered by AWS Endurance Cup will headline the weekend with a three-hour race running at 15:30 CEST on Sunday afternoon. Europe’s biggest and most competitive GT series brings a field of 57 cars representing 10 brands, including the new Lamborghini Temerario and the updated Ferrari 296. There’s also plenty of star power behind the wheel thanks to world-class drivers such as Mirko Bortolotti, Raffaele Marciello, Arthur Leclerc, Jules Gounon, Nicki Thiim and Maro Engel.
The opening Endurance Cup round was staged in April at Circuit Paul Ricard and saw Aston Martin snatch a dramatic victory from Mercedes-AMG. Thiim was the hero, steering his Comtoyou Racing machine to the front with just 10 minutes left on the clock. Having won at Monza 12 months ago, Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter will aim to avenge their opening-race defeat.
The Tifosi will be dreaming of a Ferrari win, and that’s a very real prospect with leading international squad AF Corse fielding two Pro cars. There’s also plenty of competitive action in prospect across the Gold Cup, Silver Cup and Bronze Cup, ensuring that fans are kept entertained from start to finish.
GT World Challenge places enormous emphasis on the fan experience. All Monza tickets include entry to the paddock, allowing the public to fully appreciate the event from the inside. There will be a dedicated Fan Zone with live music from a DJ, food and drinks stands, big screens to follow the action, and a dedicated area for kids. What’s more, a special Photo Corner will allow spectators to snap a selfie and share it on social media.
The event also includes autograph driver autograph sessions on Saturday and Sunday, as well as supercars and plenty of merchandise stalls. Tickets start at just 20€ while a full weekend pass – which will allow you to watch almost nine hours of racing – costs 40€.
Think of a GT World event as being the motorsport equivalent of a music festival. So, while GT World Challenge is the headliner, you can also rely on seeing some awesome support acts.
McLaren Trophy Europe begins its 2026 season with what is set to be a record grid. The one-make series for the British marque’s Artura Trophy machine will stage all five of its events alongside GT World Challenge, and has quickly become a stepping stone for young drivers since launching in 2023.
The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli also opens its season with a revitalised grid and a career-changing prize up for grabs. Monza is a great place to showcase the record 21-car field, with the machinery capable of producing lap times close to their GT3 counterparts. As well as the outright fight for glory, six young drivers will compete for SRO GT Academy honours, which will reward one with a seat at a Mercedes-AMG Customer Team for the 2027 Endurance Cup.
The GT4 European Series is also back at Monza with more than 40 cars from 10 different brands going for glory. Defending champions Robert Consani and Benjamin Lariche urgently need a return to the sort of form that brought the Team Speedcar Audi pair victory in each of the last three races held at the Italian track. They will attempt to claw back the deficit to early leaders Enrico Förderer and Cedric Fuchs in the SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm Mercedes-AMG.
If you can’t make it to the track, GT World Challenge races are streamed live around the world on the GT World YouTube channel. This is entirely free, allowing fans to experience every second of the action no matter where they are. Live coverage begins on Sunday morning with qualifying at 09:50, while main event gets underway at 15:30. All six support races will also air live on GT World.
