The other 2 driver Jose Luis Pena and Eric Abel suffered in the fast specials with because of belts or variators not exactly adapted.
According to them, the Polaris was fine in the dunes and in the winding road, but in the long straight portions the belt wears abnormally until it breaks, the same thing happens to the variator.
The positive thing is that the 2 pilots manage to end the dakar !

Part of this success is due to the CST lobe RC tires which, as always, have demonstrated excellent qualities for the Dakar Rally, very few punctures, and in the sand their effectiveness at low pressure is no longer to be proved !
