– Ricardo Porém did not race today and will return on stage 7.
– Nani Roma William provide interviews between 13:00 and 14:00 tomorrow (11th of January) in the bivouac.
Borgward Rally Team drivers took different paths on day 6. Nani Roma (301) finished 13th on the stage of 477 kilometres that ended in Riyadh. On the other hand, yesterday it was decided to not start Ricardo Porém today to give the car a thorough check-up today and tomorrow. He will start again Sunday, the 7th stage of the Dakar rally.
Nani Roma started off very close to the top 10 in the race. He showed good pace during the race and he was happy that he had learned a lot about the Borgward BX7 EVO and the race in Saudi Arabia this week. He had no navigation problems nor tyre problems as he did in previous stages.
Nani Roma said this after stage: « Today was another long stage. The stage was really fast and we tried to do our best. The Borgward BX7 EVO is running great and we are really happy with the car. We didn’t have any issues today. We had no punctures today. We seem to miss a bit of top speed compared to the others, but the rest of the package is really good. We learned a lot this week. »
Nani Roma has not had much luck throughout this year’s Dakar. Punctures and navigation problems have been a main concern for the two-time champion. The Spanish driver has not had a real chance to show the speed of the Borgward BX7 EVO.
The Borgward Rally Team lead driver added: « Unfortunately, the overall position does not show the real potential of the Borgward BX7 EVO. That’s what we must accept, that’s motorsport. The Borgward Rally Team really works well and we try to keep improving each day. Tomorrow is the rest day and we will take a good night of sleep tonight! »
Ricardo Porém used the ‘joker’ card today. This feature was introduced by ASO and allows drivers to skip a day and then continue racing in the ‘Dakar Experience’. The drivers that choose this option will not be classified in the general standings; however, they will be able to be part of the daily classifications. Top drivers are not allowed to choose this option.
