WEC Miguel Molina : A single goal at Fuji

Three weeks after securing a solid podium finish in Texas, Miguel Molina returns to the international stage this weekend for the seventh and penultimate round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season: the 6 Hours of Fuji. Alongside teammates Antonio Fuoco and Nicklas Nielsen, the Ferrari factory driver will have a clear goal: to continue racking up points to secure the Manufacturers’ title for Ferrari.

The final sprint of the FIA World Endurance Championship is well and truly underway. Three weeks after the season resumed in Austin, Miguel Molina has now headed to Japan for the penultimate round of the season.

This seventh round of the international season takes place at Fuji Speedway. Located at the foot of Mount Fuji, some 100km from Tokyo, this motorsport landmark is an unusual 4,563-metre circuit that combines a long 1.5km straight with fast corners and a particularly twisty third and final sector.

It is also a special track for the Spaniard, who has already enjoyed some memorable moments there. The Spaniard won there for the first time in the FIA WEC in 2017 in the LMGTE Pro category in a Ferrari 488 GTE. Five years later, he was back on the podium in a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.

Building on this experience, he now faces a new challenge: to score as many points as possible for Ferrari in the Manufacturers’ Championship and try to get the Ferrari 499P on the podium for the first time on Japanese soil. After the first six rounds, the Prancing Horse leads the World Manufacturers’ Championship, and the crew’s podium finish in Austin provided a boost of positive momentum.

With a strong result in Japan, the 100th race in the modern history of the FIA World Endurance Championship, Ferrari could take a decisive step towards the title, one of its main goals for the year.
« We are entering the final phase of the championship, and we know every point is crucial in reaching our primary goal for the year – the world title for Ferrari – and in securing the best possible position for our crew in the Drivers’ standings. At Fuji, as always, we will give our all on a track that is special to me, since it was in Japan in 2017 that I celebrated my first victory in the FIA WEC with the 488 GTE. Like in Austin, our focus will be evident: we need a solid race to bring home points for the Manufacturers’ Championship. It would be a great achievement, and Fuji is a key venue to make a huge step towards this goal. »

Among the many challenges of Fuji, the weather often plays a decisive role, with fog or showers capable of altering the order at any moment. For Miguel Molina, however, these conditions are not a surprise: « Fuji is always tricky, not only because of the layout, which is very technical, but also because of the weather. You can have sunshine, rain, or fog in the same race. That means strategy and tyre management will be crucial. We need to be ready for everything. We’ve been working hard all year with the stated aim of bringing the title to Ferrari. We know it won’t be easy, but we’re motivated and determined to do our best. »

Miguel Molina and his teammates will take to the track on Friday for the first two free practice sessions. Work will continue on Saturday morning before qualifying in the afternoon. The race will start at 11:00 am local time (4:00 am in Spain).
