ABT Cupra Monaco Accelerates faster than Formula 1: Formula E unveils new generation of racecars

The GEN3 Evo sets new standards in motorsport with its remarkable acceleration – 0 to 100 kph in just 1.82 seconds, 30 percent faster than a current Formula 1 car. On Thursday evening in Monaco, Formula E’s top management, together with FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem and all the Formula E teams and drivers, unveiled the car for next season. At the start of the race, during qualifying duels and in attack mode, the car will be driven with all-wheel-drive – a first ever in single-seater racing.

New terrain: ABT and Marian present electric sports boat in Monaco
Together with its partner Marian, ABT presented a fully electric sports boat on Friday evening. The 450 kW strong ABT | Marian M 800-R is located in sight of the pit lane in the harbour of Monaco and was the talk of the paddock after only a few hours. Lucas di Grassi, Nico Müller, ABT CEO Thomas Biermaier and many other members of the Formula E family also visited the luxurious boat and were impressed by its sporting quality.

ABT’s motorsport department is doing double duty this weekend: in addition to the eighth round of the Formula E season, the team is also competing in the DTM season opener at Oschersleben in Germany. Ricardo Feller and Kelvin van der Linde, who will take over the cockpit from Nico Müller for two races in Berlin in two weeks’ time, will be behind the wheels.

Dad as guide: Class trip to the Formula E paddock
It was a highlight for the kids: Lucas di Grassi invited his son Leo’s school class into the pit lane on Thursday. The Brazilian, who lives in Monaco with his family, explained his race car in detail to the enthusiastic children and then let them raid the team’s candy buffet. Daughter Beatriz also took the opportunity to try out her first seat in the cockpit of her father’s Formula E car.

Girls on Track: On the kart track with the motorsport youngsters
On the Wednesday before the race, Lucas di Grassi and several other drivers attended a kart race with participants from the “Girls on Track” initiative, which Formula E has been supporting intensively for several years. The programme included tips from the experts, a few laps on the track and the official awards ceremony.
