– Silverstone hosts the first race of the new WEC season
– Former F1 ace Robert Kubica joins Webb in the team
– Switch to Nissan Nismo power for 2017

The World Endurance Championship curtain raiser takes place this weekend with the 6 Hours of Silverstone. As reported in January, Webb’s Bykolles team have switched to Nissan powered engines for 2017. The team moves from the AER P60 2.4-litre V6 to the Nismo VRX 30A Evo 3-litre V6.

The car has been modified to hold the new power unit. The team is hopeful this could improve reliability and performance this year.

Webb will line up alongside former Formula One race winner, Robert Kubica to cement a formidable duo with huge pedigree between them.

Speaking ahead of this weekend, Webb commented: « I can’t wait to get the 2017 FIA WEC season started. It’s a pleasure and privilege to have ex-Formula One driver Robert Kubica in the team and Nissan Nismo on-board with us for the year. For us it’s going to be a year of learning this new power unit combination and getting everything strong so in 2018 the team are in a good place to battle for a strong grid of LMP1-L’s. It’s always a special moment racing at Silverstone, my home track for the UK and in one of the top categories and Championships in the world, a real pinch yourself moment no matter how many times it happens ».
