Specially developed PROXES racing tyres combine sustainability and performance
Press release dated May 15, 2026: TOYO TIRES is competing with the team ‘TOYO TIRES with Ring Racing’ at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring 2026 in Germany. Qualifying is already underway, and the main race will start on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Nürburgring, also known as the ‘Green Hell’, combines a Grand Prix circuit of around 5 km with the approximately 20 km Nordschleife to form a lap of about 25 km. More than 170 corners, an elevation change of around 290 metres and the unpredictable Eifel weather make it arguably the most demanding race track in the world – requiring full concentration and maximum skill over 24 hours.
The highlight is the top SP9 class, where PROXES brand ambassador Yuichi Nakayama and the German drivers who finished in the overall top 10 in last year’s SP-PRO class are aiming for outright victory. In the SP10 class, in which the team most recently claimed a class win at the 24h Qualifiers, drivers from TOYOTA GAZOO Racing and young talents from the Japanese GT series are targeting their next triumph.
In addition, the VT2 class will see a TOYO TIRES employee, Takuma Miyazono, contesting a 24-hour race for the first time. The cars are fitted with specially developed PROXES racing tyres that have been further refined in a targeted way since last year. These tyres not only meet the extreme performance demands of motorsport, but also incorporate a proportion of sustainable materials such as bio-based styrene-butadiene and butadiene rubber, plant-based oils, silica derived from rice husk ash, and recycled bead wire.
