– Teams with TOYO TIRES are ideally positioned for the current BAJA 1000
TOYO TIRES supply their Open Country series tires for pickup trucks and SUVs to the racing teams competing in the 57th SCORE BAJA 1000, which will be held in the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico from November 12 (Tuesday) to 17 (Sunday), in order to support the teams’ success in the race.
The BAJA 1000, the final race of the SCORE World Desert Championship (out of four races), is known as one of the toughest off-road races in the world, as it covers rough roads such as mountainous and desert areas day and night. This time, the course is set to be approximately 864 miles (approximately 1,390 km) long, starting from Ensenada, a city on the Baja California peninsula, going around the peninsula and returning to the same place. In order to complete the race at high speed, not only the driver’s advanced technique but also the tires’ excellent rough road performance and durability are required.
The ‘Open Country’ series that TOYO TIRES supply for this race is a product that has been developed by incorporating feedback from the experience gained from participating in off-road races around the world. Taking advantage of its tough structure that firmly grips rough roads and is highly durable against impacts while driving, it has contributed to numerous victories to date.
In this race, we will supply the ‘Open Country M/T-R’, a race-tuned version of the ‘Open Country M/T’, to the vehicles of each team led by the supported drivers Bryce Menzies, Alan Ampudia, and TavoVildósola. In addition, TOYO TIRES supply the ‘Open Country R/T Trail’ to the vehicles of the ‘TEAM JAOS’, a race team of JAOS Co., Ltd., a comprehensive parts manufacturer for SUVs and four-wheel drive vehicles with which TOYO TIRES have a strategic partnership. In the Trophy Truck division, the highest class of the series, the supported drivers have monopolized the top of the series rankings after the three races so far, and are expected to win the BAJA 1000 and become the series champion.
