South Racing signs strategic alliance with Latvia-Based Sports Racing Technologies (SRT)

South Racing has signed an agreement with Sports Racing Technologies (SRT) for the Latvia-based operation to become its strategic development and operational partner to service customers and events in the Eastern European market, in addition to Russia, the Baltic region and former Soviet states.

The Riga-based enterprise already owns numerous South Racing Can-Am Maverick X3s and will continue to nurture and expand the market for the FIA T4 vehicles on regional cross-country rallies and Bajas and select rounds of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies and FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas.

SRT will utilise the South Racing brand of specialised parts to service their vehicles on forthcoming off-road events. The Latvian operation also hopes to build upon the recent victory in the FIA T3 category at Baja Poland, delivered by the Russian driver Vasily Gryazin and his Latvian navigator Oleg Uperenko in a Can-Am Maverick X3. SRT has already tackled numerous events with the Can-Am, including finishing first in class and sixth in Baja Russia and taking part in the Dakar Rally.

Germany-based South Racing is the world’s leading developer of Can-Am Maverick X3s with the latest versions dominating recent results in the new FIA T4 category.

South Racing’s managing director Scott Abraham said: « We have a great relationship with the team at SRT. They have shown that they have the resources and knowledge to compete at a global level. We are very excited to grow this region together with SRT and look forward to further successes along the way. »

SRT’s Girts Kruzmanis added: « Having the chance to work with South Racing has brought us great success during last year’s season of cross-country racing. Cross-country races and Dakar events are something relatively new to us as a team that has been in the racing scene for many, many years. But, together with South Racing, we have established a great partnership and now we are ready to take things even further and develop the best possible racing solutions in this field for Can-Am Maverick X3 cars. When two teams with such great experience in racing come together the only possible outcome is high level results and beautiful progress that hopefully will bring this category to an even higher standard. »

SRT has a broad spectrum of clients across several rallying, circuit racing and rallycross disciplines and also offers on-event servicing, warehousing and access to its renowned suspension laboratory.

Kruzmanis has extensive personal experience in a circuit racing environment, but SRT has worked in many different racing fields since then. Accompanying drivers such as Nikolay Gryazin in WRC, Lukazs Habaj and Miko Marczyk in ERC, Oliver Solberg in Baltic Racing Championships, Boris Shulmeister in Circuit racing and many others. Vasily Gryazin, who is participating in various Cross-Country events at the moment, also represented the team in the WRX2 category in rallycross.
