Sacha Fenestraz to take part in super Formula test

After a successful season where he won the Japanese Formula 3 championship and impressed in Super GT’s GT300 class, Sacha Fenestraz is set to reunite with Kondo Racing to take part in the Super Formula rookie test next week at Suzuka International Circuit.

Suzuka, the current home of Formula 1’s Japanese Grand Prix and one of the most famous race tracks in the country, was also where Sacha started off his Japanese F3 championship winning campaign by taking victory in his first race in the series. He then went on to sweep up all three race wins at the second round at Autopolis before adding a fourth victory in four races at the next round. By the end of the season he had finished 20 points ahead of championship rival Ritomo Miyata.

Sacha also had an impressive debut season in Super GT, where along with team-mate Kazuki Hiramine he was often a front-runner in the GT300 class. They finished in a very respectable sixth place in the class standings after the end of the season, with the best result being a hard-fought second place in Thailand.

The rookie test for Japan’s premier single-seater championship is set to take place on December 4 and 5, and will provide a great learning experience and opportunity for Sacha.

Sacha commented: « I am extremely excited and thankful to everyone who made this massive opportunity happen. I’m really looking forward to driving the Super Formula car which has so much downforce and speed on such an amazing track. I’m like a kid with a new toy. »
