Elisabete Jacinto and the Bio-Ritmo® team are already set to start the ninth edition of the Africa Eco Race. It was near the Quai Antoine 1º, in an atmosphere of good mood, that the official start of the rally took place in the Principality of Monaco. It was attended by the former Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Karembeu who was, for the first time, the godmother of the race.
The caravan arrives today to Sète, in the south of France, where the whole team will board the ferry that will allow them to cross the Mediterranean Sea and arrive in Morocco at dawn on the 2nd of January. There will be two nights spent on the boat as well as the first day of the year. The Portuguese trio formed by Elisabete Jacinto, José Marques and Marco Cochinho will have the opportunity to spend a quiet day recovering their strength for the hard rally that awaits them: « For the first time since a few years we will be up at midnight. The party won’t be very big, but at least we can enjoy a pleasant relationship between the various participants and make votes of a good result in this rally, « commented Elisabete Jacinto.
This will be the eighth time that Elisabete Jacinto participates in this great African competition. Her debut year was in 2010 and has since then been a regular presence in the event. In fact, Elisabete Jacinto is the only Portuguese driver to have in her curriculum eight consecutive participations in the Africa Eco Race rally where for five times she has reached a podium place.
On January 2nd 2017 will be held the first special of this Africa Eco Race. The stage held between Nador and Domaine Moulay will be composed by a short selective sector with 86 kilometers. On this day, competitors will find all the most common ingredients on an off road rally with the exception of the dunes. The special will finish in Dar Mimoun and the pilots will have to travel 473 kilometers before reaching the camp that will be located near Errachidia.
