The Belgian Audi Club Team WRT started the season in style, as Laurens Vanthoor and Frédéric Vervisch took a clean and undisputable victory in the Main race of the Blancpain Sprint Series opening round at Misano Adriatico. The Belgian pair could have won also the Qualifying race on Saturday: they were dominating the night race, but had to satisfy themselves with a final third position, as a full course yellow during the pit stops changed the physiognomy of the race.
There were more satisfactions for the Belgian Audis R8 LMS in Italy: Dries Vanthoor (at his debut in GT racing) and Robin Frijns took an excellent 4th in the first race, before suffering two drive-throughs on Sunday, Ide-Mies collected well-deserved points in the Main race and Leonard-Meadows conquered an excellent 2nd position in the Silver cup on Sunday. Moreover, the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT mechanic crews performed outstanding pit stops in the Main race, trusting the entire podium of the Pit Stop Challenge!
