Having been among the best kart drivers of his generation, one of the standout performers of the 2025 season in his debut Formula 4 campaign, and having secured 5th place in the United Arab Emirates Championship during the winter break, David Cosma Cristofor has made a promising start to the Italian F4 Championship with a double podium finish at Misano. The young Romanian motorsport hopeful has already moved into 3rd place in the 2026 overall standings following this first round.

The Italian F4 Championship, run by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion, is the world’s most competitive single-seater series for young hopefuls looking to make the transition from karting to the highest level of motorsport. The talented David Cosma Cristofor is competing in his second season in the series with the Prema Racing team and continues to demonstrate his ability to fight for the top places.
Romanian colours in the spotlight
The rookie secured several top-three finishes last year in his debut season and now has what it takes to aim even higher. He followed this up with his first podium finishes in the UAE Championship in January and February.

Competitive right from the first practice sessions
David Cosma Cristofor immediately felt at home in his Prema Racing single-seater, securing P1, P2 and P3 in the collective tests. He was once again P1 in Free Practice and confirmed his form in Qualifying.
« I put in an excellent lap of 1:35.679 to finish P2 in my group. I was just 42 thousandths of a second off P1. »
Three races, two podiums!
The Romanian driver didn’t stop there. In Race 1, he put in a solid, consistent and flawless performance, rewarded with 2nd place on the podium. David continued working with his team ahead of Race 2.
« We were still performing very well. My pace was excellent; in fact, I set the 2nd-fastest lap in the race. I pushed as hard as I could, which allowed me to climb onto the second step of the podium once again. I’d like to thank the team and all my partners who enable me to compete at this level. »
P3 in the overall standings ahead of Vallelunga
At Misano, David Cosma Cristofor’s third race did not go his way, but he remained determined right to the end to secure a place in the top 10 and score vital points. The season is still long and a lot can happen. The 16-year-old Romanian will arrive at Vallelunga, near Rome, in 3rd place in the overall standings of the Italian Formula 4 Championship.
