Laia Sanz, the multiple-time world motorcycling champion and Dakar Rally legend, is about to take on one of the toughest endurance tests of her career—this time, without her bike.
Between May 29 and June 1, Sanz will attempt the Everesting 48h Challenge, an ultra-endurance feat where participants accumulate 8,848 metres of elevation gain (the height of Mount Everest) by repeatedly ascending a mountain. In her case, she’ll be tackling 19 climbs on foot at Ordino-Arcalís (Andorra) within a 48-hour window.
This marks a powerful comeback for Sanz after her first-ever withdrawal from the Dakar Rally. Pushing herself in a completely new discipline, she sees this challenge as a test of resilience, self-discovery, and sheer willpower.
Everesting, a global endurance movement founded in Australia in 2014, has drawn over 30,000 participants worldwide. This Andorran edition will see Sanz join hundreds of athletes, including amateurs, in an effort that blends extreme physical effort with an unforgettable experience—enhanced by a nutritional program designed by three-Michelin-star chef Eneko Atxa.
