News from the Formula E paddock in Tokyo

Sightseeing: Nico Müller and Lucas di Grassi discover Japan’s capital city
The iconic television tower, a hidden temple and the famous Gundam statue: on Thursday before the race, Nico Müller and Lucas di Grassi took a tour of Japan’s capital. Both drivers were impressed not only by the sights but also by the friendliness of the people who greeted them.

Partnership: ZF and ABT drivers together in front of the camera
Japan’s major sports broadcaster J Sports has been following motorsport and Formula E for many years. For the home round in Japan, the presenters welcomed Lucas di Grassi and Nico Müller together with Sascha Ricanek, Managing Director of ZF Race Engineering GmbH, for interviews and a tour of their studios in Tokyo. The team of the ABT partner will also be in the pits this weekend.

Support: Kelvin van der Linde with us in Tokyo
As in Diriyah, Kelvin van der Linde will also support the Formula E team in Tokyo. The simulator and reserve driver is present during the preparations in Kempten and at all track meetings to share his experience. In 2024, the South African, who now also has German citizenship, will compete for ABT in the DTM and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

Capricious weather: rain and sunshine at debut on new circuit
The weather at the debut of the 2.585-kilometre circuit on the shores of Tokyo Bay was extremely changeable: the teams completed the track walk on Friday morning in pouring rain and strong winds. The forecast for race day (the fifth round of the season starts on Saturday at 15:00 local time) is bright sunshine and temperatures in the 20s.

Welcome home: Formula E returns to Europe for three races
After the season opener in Mexico, two races in Saudi Arabia, Lucas di Grassi’s home race in São Paulo and the debut in Tokyo, Formula E comes to Europe in two weeks’ time. With events in Misano (Italy), Monaco and the guest appearance in Berlin (Germany), three season highlights with many guests and European media are on the calendar. ABT will then also present exciting new partnerships for its Formula E future.
