Venturi Formula-E to race in Marrakesh this week end

Round 2, Season 3 of the FIA Formula-E Championship kicks off this weekend for the first time on African soil in Marrakesh, Morocco for the Venturi team, and its 9 competitors.

« We are looking forward to the race in Marrakesh. It’s always exciting to discover a new place, a new challenge for cars, drivers and our  team. We had a good start in Hong-Kong with the first round of the season .

Stéphane (Sarrazin) And Maro (Angel) were both in the points. It gives us a lot of confidence to have achieved that in terms of reliability and performance. Now we have to confirm with steady results », said Delphine Biscaye , Venturi’s team manager.

This Saturday,  the 20 drivers will race on the longest track of the season (2.9 km and 33 laps). The race will start at 4pm (local time) on the international circuit Moulay El Hassan (usually used by the World Touring Car Championship WTCC).

It’s also going to be a really important race for the Formula-E series in terms of showcasing sustainable mobility. The race takes place during the COP 22 Summit (November 7 to 18), the United Nations  annual conference on  climate change. Some of the world’s pre-eminent climatologist, scientist, politician, industry leaders and heads of state will be in attendance including Prince Albert of Monaco.

Venturi owner Gildo Pastor said: « Formula -E is about racing but also about developing the most advanced technologies in order to bring to the market the best sustainable mobility solutions for the future of the planet. We compete to show our skill but first of all to be efficient for future generations. »

Quick Facts
Marrakesh is the 14th different city welcoming a Formula-E race since the launch .

This is the first time that the series goes to Africa.

The Marrakech track is the second longest , just behind the Beijing Olympic Track (3,44k,China).
