– Crews without mechanics today
– Baud family moves up in the overall classification
The X-raid team and the crews are spending the night in separate bivouacs today. While the mechanics have already travelled on to Hail, the competitors are staying in a different camp, where they must manage without any infrastructure – and, most importantly, without their mechanics. Getting there was anything but easy: Lionel and Lucie Baud reached the finish in 49th place in the MINI JCW Rally 3.0d and now hold 38th position overall. Their teammates Maria Gameiro and Rosa Romero finished 75th in their MINI JCW Rally 3.0d, placing them 67th in the general classification.
The misfortune from yesterday continued for Guillaume de Mévius and Mathieu Baumel. Technical issues forced them into an extended repair stop – despite having worked their way into the top 10 earlier in the stage. They ultimately finished the special in 144th place, dropping to 91th overall.
For Rebecca Busi and Sergio Lafuente, luck seems to have returned. They finished 22nd in the Challenger classification.
Tomorrow, the crews will return to their teams in AlUla. The second part of the marathon stage will be faster than today’s special but features numerous direction changes, making navigation particularly challenging.
