WEC Miguel Molina : A title in sight in Bahrain

The final race in a campaign that began nearly nine months ago, the 8 Hours of Bahrain marks the end of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season. Miguel Molina and teammates Antonio Fuoco and Nicklas Nielsen head to the season finale at the Bahrain International Circuit with one goal in mind: to secure the manufacturers’ world title for Ferrari.

Launched in February in Qatar, the 2025 FIA WEC season also ends in the Middle East. Although no longer in contention for the drivers’ title, the trio in the #50 Ferrari – AF Corse Ferrari 499P approaches the final round with a clear goal: to contribute to the Prancing Horse’s manufacturers’ world title.

The 5.412-kilometre Bahrain International Circuit is renowned for its abrasive surface, often covered with a thin layer of sand. The track combines long straights, heavy braking, and medium-speed corners, which severely test the tyres. On this technical and demanding track, managing pace and tyre degradation will be the key focus. Conditions change drastically throughout the race: the teams will start in bright sunshine and see temperatures drop as they approach the finish line in a genuine test of mechanical, strategic, and human endurance.

« It’s a special event for everyone in the paddock, » explains Miguel Molina. « It’s the last race of the year, and it’s always emotional because it’s where you close a long season. The 8-hour format adds an extra layer of complexity, as you start in daylight, finish at night, and have to manage temperature drops that can significantly impact the cars. The key is to stay consistent and make no mistakes. Every detail matters in Bahrain. »

Still leading the World Endurance Manufacturer’s Championship by 39 points, Ferrari heads to the final round in a favourable but not guaranteed position. With 66 points still at stake at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, one last effort is needed to secure the world title.

Miguel Molina, Antonio Fuoco, and Nicklas Nielsen have consistently been among the frontrunners throughout the season, thanks in particular to their victory in Qatar and podium finishes at Spa-Francorchamps and Austin. After a frustrating result at Fuji, the trio is aiming above all for a smooth weekend to demonstrate their competitiveness while proving decisive.

« We know that this race is important, » confides Miguel Molina. « Our goal is obvious: help the team and win the Manufacturers’ title. It is our only goal. We will do everything we can to do that and finish on a high note, with a clean race, no mistakes, and hopefully a solid result. We have been in this kind of situation a few times already in GT so our motivation is huge, because the whole team has worked incredibly hard all season long. »

The free practice sessions will provide an opportunity to evaluate Michelin’s different tyre compounds and adjust the car for both daytime heat and nighttime cooling. The eight-hour format, which is longer than a typical race, will also require particular attention to fuel management and optimising stints.

« Bahrain is always a demanding race for drivers but I like this track, » underscores Molina. « You have to find the right long-term compromises, because everything adds up over eight hours. It’s the sort of race where discipline and teamwork make the difference. So, it will be an interesting and, for sure, an emotional weekend. But I think we are ready to fight for this before switching our focus to 2026. »

This final race will cap off an intense year for Miguel Molina, who will take to the track for the first time on Thursday during free practice. Following Friday’s qualifying session, the 8 Hours of Bahrain starts at 2 pm local time (12 pm CET) on Saturday.
