Barcelona beckons as GT World Challenge powered by AWS heads into final showdown

– Endurance Cup honours up for grabs in all classes as curtain falls on 2025
– Overall and Silver champions to be settled in full-season classification
– Barcelona draws record 60-car field for 10th Festival de la Velocidad

The curtain falls on the 2025 GT World Challenge powered by AWS season next weekend (10–12 October) when a three-hour race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will decide the outcome of this year’s title battles.

A 60-car field will dispute the long-distance contest, the biggest grid that GT World Challenge has brought to the Spanish track since the event was launched in 2016. There is everything left to fight for, with Endurance Cup honours up for grabs in each class and a number of full-season titles still on the line.

It marks the conclusion of a 10-round campaign that kicked off six months ago at Circuit Paul Ricard. The storylines that began in France will be resolved in Spain, bringing another intensely competitive season to a close.

PRO: Epic three-way fight for Endurance Cup glory
Three of the biggest teams in GT racing will compete for this season’s overall Endurance Cup crown. Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter tops the table with its trio of Engel/Auer/Cairoli, whose advantage was established by a win at Monza and a P2 finish last time out at the Nürburgring.

Their closest challenge comes from the Rutronik Racing Porsche line-up of Niederhauser/Müller/Picariello, who are just five points back after picking up three podiums – including runner-up spot at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. BMW will chase its maiden Endurance Cup title thanks to Team WRT. The trio of Weerts/Van der Linde/De Wilde enter the finale 17 points off the top, though bigger gaps have been overcome at the deciding round.

Two drivers from each of these squads are also in contention for the full-season GT World Challenge powered by AWS crown, with Engel/Auer five points clear of Weerts/Van der Linde, and Müller/Niederhauser a further seven back. The #63 Grasser Racing pairing of Engstler/Pepper retain an outside shot, with Mirko Bortolotti supporting the bid to add title glory to their CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa triumph.

A further 13 Pro cars will contend for victory at the season finale. ROWE Racing won last time out at the Nürburgring and is likely to be a contender once again with its BMW, while HRT Ford Performance will look to build on a season-best showing at the German venue. Mercedes-AMG will be the best-represented Pro brand, with the title-chasing Team Mann-Filter entry joined by machinery from Boutsen VDS, GetSpeed and Nordique Racing. Porsche is also strong, with Schumacher CLRT and Pure Rxcing complementing Rutronik.

Comtoyou Racing and Walkenhorst Motorsport represent Aston Martin, while Garage 59 will look to cap an excellent campaign in style with its #59 McLaren. VSR adds another Lamborghini to the grid, while the final field of 2025 is completed by Ferrari. The outgoing Endurance Cup champion is represented by two cars from AF Corse Francorchamps Motors, which includes the addition of Chinese ace Yifei Ye in place of Alessandro Pier Guidi.

GOLD: Verstappen.com Racing aiming to finish the job after Nürburgring disappointment
Verstappen.com Racing looked to have sealed the Gold Cup title with victory at the Nürburgring, but a post-race penalty dropped the #33 Aston Martin to third spot and kept the fight alive. The trio of King/Lulham/Vermeulen still lead the way ahead of the finale, though their advantage has been trimmed to 16 points.

Their closest competition comes from the #777 AlManar Racing by WRT BMW line-up of Al Zubair/Klingmann/Tuck, who were elevated to the top step of the podium at the Nürburgring. Circuit Paul Ricard winner CSA Racing also has a shot at the title. The #111 McLaren crew of Gachet/Rougier/Kell is 22 points off the lead and will need to score a first victory since the opener to have a chance of the title.

A further five teams will chase Gold Cup glory in Spain. Optimum Motorsport, Team RJN and Garage 59 will all field McLaren machinery, making the 720S GT3 Evo the most popular car among the Gold contenders. Entries from Tresor Attempto Racing (Audi) and Paul Motorsport (Lamborghini) complete the field.

SILVER: Ultra-consistent Century aiming to seal title success
This has been a vintage season for the Silver Cup, with huge grids ensuring a high standard of competition. The standout squad has been Century Motorsport, which leads the standings with its line-up of Jansen/Moore/Waberski. The #42 BMW has been impressively consistent this year, taking a win at Monza and two further podiums.

The Century crew is 18 points clear of the Boutsen VDS trio of Panis/Gazeau/Cabirou, meaning the #10 Mercedes-AMG will almost certainly require a win to snatch the title. Paradine Competition also retains a shot, though the #992 BMW line-up of Clark/Ebrahim/Kellett will need to overcome a 21-point gap to have a chance of beating Century.

In addition to the Endurance Cup crown, the full-season GT World Challenge title is also up for grabs this weekend. Panis/Gazeau will face off against Jansen, with the French drivers just two points clear heading into the decider.

The Silver Cup will be the largest class at Barcelona, with a further 16 entries bringing the total to 19 cars. This matches the biggest-ever Silver field, which was set at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa in 2022. All 10 brands are present, including three-car entries for BMW, Mercedes-AMG and McLaren. The latter adds a new name to the grid, with British squad Greystone GT making its series debut.

CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa winner Walkenhorst Motorsport will field Aston Martin machinery, as will Comtoyou Racing. There are further two-car entries representing Lamborghini and Audi, while Corvette, Ferrari, Ford and Porsche are also part of this highly diverse field.

BRONZE: Kessel Racing on the cusp of title sweep
Kessel Racing has been part of the GT World Challenge paddock for more than a decade, but it has never enjoyed a season quite like 2025. The Swiss squad has already secured the Sprint Cup and full-season titles with Dustin Blattner and Dennis Marschall, who will join forces with Conrad Laursen at Barcelona as they look to complete a clean sweep.

They were on course to clinch the Endurance crown last time out at the Nürburgring before being taken out of the class lead. Nevertheless, they retain a 21-point advantage at the top of the standings, with only Winward Racing able to overhaul them. What’s more, the #81 Mercedes-AMG crew of Salikhov/Piana/Dienst must win in Spain to stand any chance of taking the title.

There will be plenty of opposition, with an additional 14 cars on the Bronze Cup entry list. There will be four Ferrari entries, with a second 296 GT3 from Kessel and outgoing class champion Ziggo Sport Tempesta among them. Porsche also boasts a quartet of Bronze crews, including a second outing for the new UNX Racing squad, which adds Bastian Buus to its line-up alongside Fabian Duffieux and Mathieu Detry.

Audi will be represented by a trio of cars, while BMW has two Bronze Cup entries heading into the finale. Comtoyou Racing flies the flag for Aston Martin, and 2 Seas Motorsport completes the gird with its Mercedes-AMG. The Bahraini squad won the Nürburgring contest and will now chase back-to-back wins victories with its crew of Dawson/Lebbon/Barnicoat.
