After an eventful first half of the season, Miguel Molina returns to action this week at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The Ferrari factory driver will contest round four of the European Le Mans Series alongside Andrew Gilbert and Fran Rueda. The Spaniard begins the second part of his European campaign with a clear ambition: to build on the momentum of his podium finish at Imola and keep the #74 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 LMGT3 in contention for the title.

Miguel Molina has had a rollercoaster start to the season on his return to the European Le Mans Series. After an encouraging debut in Barcelona, disappointment prevailed at Le Castellet, where a collision brought the trio’s hopes to a premature end. However, the momentum changed at Imola, where the Spaniard and his teammates scored their first podium result in an intense and hard-fought race. This performance on the Prancing Horse’s home turf returned the #74 Ferrari to the top ten in the LMGT3 general classification.
« We showed our potential in the first three races. Especially in Imola, where we finished on the podium, it was a big boost before the break. The team atmosphere has certainly been positive, and I’m super happy about that. Of course, there are always areas for improvement, but overall, it’s been a good start. The podium was particularly significant for all of us, especially Andy, as he demonstrated and converted his solid pace smoothly. Everything came together in Imola. Fran also put in a strong stint, and in the end, it was a team result that gave us confidence. We proved we have the pace. »
Now back on track, Miguel Molina, Andrew Gilbert and Fran Rueda are keen to build upon their progress at the start of the second half of the season at Spa-Francorchamps. Regarded as one of the most spectacular circuits in the world, the Belgian track is a veritable test of skill with its seven kilometres of elevation changes, fast corners and often changeable weather conditions. Miguel Molina will compete in his third race of the year on this track after his runner-up finish in the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and his strong showing in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
« Spa, one of the most iconic circuits in the world, and one of my favourites, is always special. I’ve raced here in the Ferrari 296 GT3 and with the Ferrari 499P Hypercar, and now it’s time to have a go in the Ferrari 296 LMGT3. It’s a challenging track, but I enjoy it. Hopefully, the car suits the circuit well and we will have a smooth weekend. »
In a more competitive LMGT3 category than ever before, the key will be to put in another clean weekend like in Imola. With Andrew Gilbert’s raw potential, Fran Rueda’s speed and Miguel Molina’s experience, the crew has everything it needs to stand out. The goal is clear: to achieve another solid result, score big points and move even closer to the sharp end of the championship standings.
« The goal is to maintain the momentum and fight for the top positions again. In Imola, we showed what’s possible, and now we need to continue in the same way. Scoring more points and fighting for another podium should be the target. We need to take it race by race. There are still three rounds to go, and if we put together good results, we can achieve something strong at the end of the season. Spa is essential to put us back in contention. The championship is very tight, so we have to seize every opportunity. »
Rejuvenated after the summer break, the Spaniard is more determined than ever to help his crew and team reach its full potential.

« I spent some time with my family during the break, just enjoying the holidays, resting, and having fun. I also did a lot of cycling, which helped me stay fit. It was important to get away from it all, and I think I managed to disconnect mentally, focus on other things and an exciting project for the future while resetting. Now I feel fresh, ready to start again and give it my all for the team! »
The 44 teams entered, including 13 in the LMGT3 category, will take to the track on Wednesday for the first collective practice sessions, followed by two free practice sessions on Friday and Saturday. Qualifying will take place on Saturday at 12:30 in the afternoon to determine the grid for the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, which will start on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
