Just a few days after a strong performance at the 24 Hours of Spa, Miguel Molina returns to the cockpit for the second race of his triple-header at the start of the summer. The Ferrari factory driver returns to the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola to round off the first half of the European Le Mans Series season. Alongside Andrew Gilbert and Fran Rueda, the Spaniard is targeting the sharp end of the field in the #74 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 LMGT3 on the Italian manufacturer’s home circuit.
Miguel Molina will compete this weekend in round three of the 2025 European Le Mans Series calendar: the 4 Hours of Imola. Ready to return to the #74 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 LM GT3, which he shares with Andrew Gilbert and Fran Rueda for the first time since May, the Ferrari factory driver has only one target: to capitalise on the work done since the start of the season to get back into the title race.
After finishing tenth in Barcelona and then being hit out while in contention for the podium at the Circuit Paul Ricard, the three men approach this race with the desire to fulfil their potential and achieve a result that matches their ambitions. The trio is therefore seeking a smooth weekend to take a step forward, confirm their promise and transform their potential into convincing results in an increasingly competitive LMGT3 category.
As always at Imola, the event will be all the more special as the three drivers and the Kessel Racing team will be keen to shine on Ferrari’s home turf in front of the Tifosi. Returning to a track he knows well, Miguel Molina will also be able to build on his recent performance in Emilia-Romagna in the Italian round of the FIA World Endurance Championship last April. He distinguished himself with his consistency and efficiency in traffic, an experience that could prove invaluable as the summer heat could well complicate tyre management.
« The first two races showed we had a competitive package, but we couldn’t capitalise on it. Nevertheless, the car has felt good, and we’ve moved forward, taking away valuable positives from these weekends. We made significant progress with setup work and preparation as a team. These will help us build momentum throughout the season. We’ve been showing potential, so now it’s about executing a clean weekend and converting that into a strong result, which is always very rewarding. Imola is a very important race for us, not only because it’s Ferrari’s home race but also because we know how key it will be for our ELMS campaign. I’m looking forward to rejoining Andrew and Fran. Hopefully, we will avoid any problems and finally get the result Kessel Racing deserves. It will be quite hot with all the challenges that might bring, but I’m confident we’re ready. »
Determined, experienced and sharper than ever, Miguel Molina is intent on driving the #74 Ferrari 296 LMGT3 to the front of the field at Imola before heading to Brazil for a new challenge in the World Endurance Championship. Forty-four cars, including 13 in the LMGT3 category, will be on track from today at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. The 4 Hours of Imola starts at noon on Sunday.
