– Casale finishes second, Porém fourth
– Dakar 2023 ends tomorrow
For the two crews Ignacio Casale / Alvaro Leon and Ricardo Porém / Augusto Sanz, the Dakar 2023 could still go on. They have established themselves in the group of the top 5. On the penultimate stage to Al-Hofuf, Casale again secured second place. Porém finished the day in fourth place. Ahmed Alkuwari and Manuel Lucchese finished in 21st position.
Ignacio Casale: « 100% dunes! It was great for us because I love dunes. I had a good feeling and we came through well and without any problems. The past few days have gone really well for us. The X-raid Yamaha Side-by-Side is really great. If we keep working on it over the year, we can be in contention for the win next Dakar. »
Ricardo Porém: « Today the stage was 100% sand and dunes. Not easy, but August and I did a good job. The first Dakar week was really to forget. The second week went great and we were able to place consistently in the top 5. »
Tomorrow’s 13th and penultimate stage features the final dunes of the 2023 Dakar. All in all, it will be a long day for the crews: they have to cover a total of 675 kilometres, 154 of which are against the clock.
