Sardegna Rally Race 2012. Race Track & Vademecum (EN)
Vendredi, 27 Avril 2012 09:18
1st leg: San Teodoro - San Teodoro, 330 km. SS1 95km, SS2 85 km
SS1 (95 km long) is characterized by an alternation of both fast and more technical tracks and it doesn’t present any particular problems with navigation. 4 stretches with controlled speed limit, end of SS not far from Berchidda, on the way to Mount Limbara. 5 km ahead there will be the assistance point (200 km from San Teodoro’s start), and a short transfer (11 km) leading to the second SS.
SS2 (85 km) doesn’t have any stretch with controlled speed limit and it is more technical than SS1: SS2 has got a first challenging part, more technical tracks interrupted by flowing and very fast sections with a very demanding final part. After SS2’s end, asphalt until San Teodoro.
2nd LEG: San Teodoro-Sa-Itria, 320 km. SS3 125 km, SS4 80 km. Marathon Stage
After a very short initial transfer (with compulsory refuelling stop) the first SS of the second SRR2012 day will begin near Padru.
SS3 is 125 km long, with 6 stretches at controlled speed limit. The first SS part is quite fast, a stretch with lots of rising hairpin bends and then fast tracks with some technical sections. Navigation is harder and the finish of the SS will be placed in very amazing scenery. After SS end, a 15 km transfer will lead to the assistance point near Pattada, in the old Railway station with bar and refuelling station. 176 km from leg’s start.
SS4’s start, the fabulous Foresta Burgo’s Special Stage, will be just 10 km away from assistance point. SS is 80 km long, with 3 stretches with limited speed and the first section with fast tracks (never touched before). SS is shodowed by vegetation and it has lot of navigation. In order to complicate things, it has been added some “checanes) with lots of directions’ changes. The end of SS is located near Burgos. 150 km of final liaison in order to reach the Marathon Stage Bivouac of Sa Itria.
3rd leg: Sa Itria-Arbatax, 270 km. SS5 70 km, SS6 60 km.
The fifth SRR’s SS will be 70km long with three stretches with controlled speed limit and start near Tonara village. After an initial section with fast tracks, a lot of hairpin bends and of directions’ changes. After that, SS will “climb” a mountain trail hosted by amazing scenery. A “never touched before” track will lead to the end of SS near the horse riding rack of Santa Sofia (Laconi). After 10 km, here the Assistance at Funtana Raminosa “Mine”, and a short transfer (17 km) on asphalt to reach the start of the sixth SS. SS6 is 60 km long, with 5 streches with controlled speed limit. Seulo SS is relatively short but maybe the most beautiful and most complicated (in terms of navigation) of the SRR 2012. Completely designed in the Barbagia di Seulo valley, SS6 is characterized, from the beginning and until the end in Seui’s suburbs, by breathtaking trails. The transfer to Arbatax is mostly on asphalt, on not crowded roads with Gennargentu as background. The leg will arrive near Arbatax seaport, in the charming “Red Rocks” square overlooking the Ogliastra sea.
4th leg: Arbatax-Arbatax, 260 km. SS7 180 km.
Initial transfer on asphalt, 41 km, up to Tertenia (where the start of the sole 4th leg’s SS is placed). The 4th SRR12 leg will be the second “ring leg” of this edition. SS7: 180km with a time neutralisation of 15 min. for the assistance and 11 stretches with controlled speed limit; this stage will be a very long one and it will present a variety of terrains and tipical Sardegna’s tracks and landscapes. Flowing and with few very technical sections, SS7 will be a very hard stage in terms of navigation. SS bypasses Perdas de Fogu’s shooting range, crosses Tertenia, Ulassai, Ussassai, Lanusei, Arzana and Villagrande areas and ends near Hotel Orlando (in Villagrande Strisaili). Way back to Arbatax by a 30 km final transfer.
5th leg: Arbatax-San Teodoro, 320 km. SS8 80 km, SS9 50 km.
The 5th (last) SRR2012 Leg will start in the square near Arbatax seaport. The initial transfer (57km) leads to SS8 start in Villagrande Strisaili. Orgosolo SS8 is 80 km long and it does not include any stretch with controlled speed limit, and flowing and fast tracks characterize it until the crossing of river Isteone. Then, SRR12 enters Orgosolo Supramonte region with an alternation of flowing and challenging tracks with lots of navigation; the conclusion will be in Agro Oliena. After the assistance point, the road leads to Siniscola following 75 km asphalt roads and dirt patches and then reaches the start of the last SRR SS. Convenient refuelling at Esso petrol station in Siniscola.
The ninth and last SS, SS9 50km, is mapped out partly (just a short stretch) on a private ground and partly on Lodè and Torpè areas. SS9 is relatively short but with lots of navigation, fast and flowing tracks, more technical and slower passages, steep fire barriers. At the end of SS9, a finale transfer leading to SRR finishing line, located in San Teodoro Town Hall Square.
