Inside FIM : Pre-registration extended until 15 May

Preparations for the 2021 FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) continues and the Organising Committee, in agreement with the FMI and the FIM, has decided to extend the pre-registration closing date.

Despite the ongoing difficulties due to the current pandemic situation, the Organising Committee of the 2021 ISDE is rapidly proceeding with the preparatory work for the event that will take place from Monday 30 August to Saturday 4 September between Lombardy and Piedmont with the event HQ and the paddock located at Voghera-Rivanazzano Terme airport.

Whilst hoping for an improvement in the pandemic situation, the organisers have designed some feasibility plans and confirm without a doubt that the event will take place normally and are ready to apply any necessary protocols.

In the meantime, an extension of the pre-registration period has been decided, which does not close at the end of March but now on 15 May.

On the national team front, the succession of the United States national team, trophy holders from the 2019 ISDE in Portugal, has already been prevented. However, the World Trophy class will again include Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia (Slovak Republic), Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Venezuela. Junior trophy Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.

The Junior Trophy class line up compromises of Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.

Six national federations are currently fielding the Women’s team: Germany, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States.

In all class, the line ups for the Italian national teams are still missing but will be presented in the next few days. There are also numerous teams of registered clubs from all over the globe.

Great work continues regarding the relationship with the regions of Pavia and Alessandria, which is ready to host the ISDE Enduro Team World Championship: In March numerous meetings were held with the Local Authorities to reread and deepen the agreements already made in 2019 in anticipation of the postponed 2020 edition. The Organising Committee met the Mayor Fabrizio Fracassi of Pavia, the capital city of the province – where the presentation parade will take place on Saturday 28 August – who have guaranteed total support of the event. A positive meeting was also held with Paola Garlaschelli, Mayor of Voghera, the city a few kilometres from the paddock, which also in this case offered a very warm welcome. There were also meetings with the Administration of the Province of Pavia, the Chamber of Commerce, the municipalities of the ISDE area and other important Authorities.

« We have extended the pre-registrations in agreement with the FIM to allow all those who are still undecided due to the pandemic to assess the situation, » explained Valter Carbone, member of the Organising Committee. « There are important national teams, strong protagonists from past editions, who are intend to participate, but do not yet have access to flight schedules and find themselves in scenarios that are currently difficult to manage, such as possible quarantines on departure and arrival and any other complications that we can imagine at the moment. However, we look forward with the hope that there will be an improvement in everything, especially thanks to the vaccination campaign. »

« We look at the situation with confidence, » said Edoardo Zucca, member of the Organising Committee responsible for marketing and part of the relations with the Authorities. « The 2021 ISDE will take place in any case: we are evaluating various plans, and in the worse-case scenario we could have to foresee the development where access to the paddock will only be for riders and staff, but I believe that with the progress in vaccinations and with the arrival of the summer season the situation can definitely improve. We all hope so, for everything, not just for the ISDE. »
