Former Total 24 Hours of Spa winner and Aston Martin Racing works driver Maxime Martin will launch his own team, with the intention to run a two-car entry in the GT4 European Series next season.

The new Belgian team, which will be named Martin Racing Team, is set to enter two Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 cars in the six-round GT4 European Series in 2020.

« It’s something that I’ve been playing around with for a while now. I wanted to broaden my horizons, do something besides my racing, in order to prepare my future, » explained Martin. « Creating a new team seemed to be the best solution. Motor racing is something that I master completely, and I am convinced that I can bring some added value to the new structure. »

Although full details of the team’s racing program are yet to be confirmed, it is very likely that at least one of the two potential entries will be in the 2020 Silver Cup category.

« We will race in the European and German GT4 championships, » Martin said. « We would love to see at least one of our cars fighting for race victories. »

« It’s one of the best formulas in GT racing. There are plenty of youngsters that put aside their single seater-dreams and focus on trying to become a professional driver in GT racing. GT4 is the best school to successfully take up that challenge. »

The GT4 European Series full-season entry process will officially open on December 1. A large number of teams, both existing and new, have shown interest in taking part in the 2020 season. The new season kicks of at Silverstone on May 8-10, 2020.
