The FIA Cross-Country Commission has now approved the provisional calendars for the 2020 FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies and the Manateq Qatar Cross-Country Rally (MQCCR) will be the opening round of the series for a second successive year.

Organised by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), the event will take place on February 22nd-27th, four weeks after the finish of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.

Officials at the QMMF have put together a generous concessions package to attract international competitors to join rivals from other GCC countries and the host nation. A delegation from the QMMF recently visited both Baja Spain Aragón and Baja Poland to meet potential teams and gain feedback in advance of the event in 2020.

The QMMF will cover return shipping costs from Genoa or Rotterdam to Doha. There will also be free shipping for all Dakar competitors keen to tackle one of the most demanding rounds of the FIA World Cup, which has a reputation for slick organisation, demanding navigation and varied off-road terrain across the length and breadth of the State of Qatar.

In addition to shipping concessions, car crews will be eligible for 600 litres of petrol, free WiFi, preparation and warehousing facilities, electricity within the service park at the Losail Sports Arena, a car washing area, free drinking water, a sleeping area and a range of entertainment activities.

Competitors will also be offered prize monies in the various categories, a night’s hotel accommodation, complimentary food in the bivouac restaurant, free visas (where applicable) and access to HD television footage from QMMF TV.
